Tried this author at recommendation of a friend, but found some of the characters and plot "over the top." Did not care for the the objectification of women (see Wikipedia), Did learn a lot about bass fishing and there are moments of humor involved in the sport and the folks that enjoy it; (coffin made from a bass boat). Fairly gory so be prepared.

Hiassen takes us into the world of competitive Bass Fishing. While I have no interest in that subject, the author has kept me very entertained with this tale of the swamp man Skink, red neck locals, an ex-con private investigator and a corrupt Pentecostal Preacher. Hiassen's low key dark humor is ever- present and the Florida Keys as well as New Orleans play an important role in this tale of adventure.

I have always told folks that I imagined Hiaasen laughing while he was writing this book. One character is indelible in my mind. Great Florida fiction- try Laurence Shames if you like Hiaasen.
