A really funny take on the classic Three Little Pigs tale. 3 pigs go to Ninja School to train so they can be prepared if the wolf comes around town and tries to blow their houses down. I loved the rhymes and the colourful illustrations.

A hilarious rhyming picture book about three butt kicking pigs! However, one of them practices relentlessly, and this makes all the difference when it comes down to a combat with the big bad wolf. A funny family story time read, and one of my favourites.

Told in limericks with martial arts woven throughout, this book is fun for the adult reading it and the children listening to it. Colorful pictures add meaning to the words and though violence is implied, talking problems out is the ninja's first response. Entertaining for sure.

Well, I am sure that young readers would enjoy the illustrations and the ninja pig moves, but I won't be using it in my grade one classroom... a bit too sassy and the lesson is the bullies win?! Oh and they use the word "butt" as in "Stay out of my hut or I'll kick your big butt!" And once again, the girl pig makes the wolf and the boy pigs look wimpy and silly.

Everyone in my house loves Dan Santat’s illustration work. Combining it with Schwartz’s fresh spin on the Three Little Pigs comes out so well! The ending won’t be much of a surprise for adults, but I love the spotlight on a female ninja and the happy ending achieved through practice. (Remind me to whip this out next time my son slacks off in piano…) This book worked well even though my son wasn’t familiar with the Three Little Pigs fairy tale. Getting the cultural reference wasn’t necessary, because the strong storytelling and humor in this version stand completely on their own.

Pig one and two neglect their ninja training, but Pig Three takes her training seriously. She makes sure to teach the Big Bad Wolf a lesson about not being a bully.
