VERY GOOD 1984 film with small mid-West country town that fun forgot being challenged when big city Kevin Bacon moves there and attends high school.
Interesting conficts, romances, and characters - and terrific dance scenes.

In general, I prefer the original to the remake, though after seeing a lot of Kevin Bacon movies, seeing him as a young kid feels kind of awkward.

It's hard enough being the new kid at school. Add to that moving from a big city to a small town that doesn't allow rock music or dancing. Poor Ren. Pretty much everything about the original Footloose is wonderful: the cast, soundtrack, dancing and the game of chicken with tractors (don't try that at home). I have no interest in ever seeing the remake.

What's not to love about this "coming of age" movie? Great dancing, great music, and, best of all, John Lithgow playing a man of the cloth!

This movie is good but sometimes a soundtrack makes a movie great. Alot of great songs!

Amazing movie! I've seen it so many times but I could still watch it over and over again!! Movies today usually don't even compare to movies like this!! If you haven't seen it, you should definitely see it!

Dated, juvenile, simple-minded dance choreography, plot, and let-youth-have-their-say message. Few things are as creepy as young John Lithgow's performance as a small-town Christian minister.
