I really wanted to like this book. The first few chapters were intriguing but then it just became chapter after chapter of summaries...summaries of historical sightings of Mary, summaries of what the narrator and Mary did, ate, cleaned, bought, discussed. It was very introspective and had little of the humour promised on the front cover. I also disliked the style of using no quotation marks for dialogue which made the conversations again seem like points in a lecture instead of two characters talking.

If only more non Catholics understood Marian devotion as Schoemperlen does and were as generous in spirit as she is the world would be a little less ignorant.

Being raised a Catholic, and having twelve years of Catholic education, this gave me an entirely new outlook and devotion to Mary. This book blends a story and historical accounts of Mary and other saints in a thoroughly enjoyable read.

This has got to be the most tedious book I have ever read....Mary goes to the mall, Mary walks around the block... It is a book full of filler with some Christian history thrown in.

When a well known author has a really good day with no glitches, potholes, or disruptions she doesn''t realize that this all leading up to something. Something really big. Something that will change her life. And that after it is all over she will never look at life in the same way. It all starts with a sighing sound in her frontroom one day and then the materialization of the Virgin. The real Virgin Mary. And she has come to let her host know exactly what has been on her mind for the past 2000 years. The really wonderful thing is that Mary turns out to be someone we would all love to get to know.
