It all began with a doll. Uncle Edgar gave it to Dulcie back in 1912 and a horrible chain of events follows over several generations. Now, over a hundred years later, Larissa finds a creepy doll that seems to be watching her. Then she receives a mysterious phone call on an antique phone that has a cord that goes nowhere. The caller tells Larisa to find the fireflies, trust the fireflies- trust the fireflies all the way back to 1912.
Larissa has to travel back in time to help save her family, and she sees her family’s history, the good and the bad. She learns how her grandma is like her and how she has recovered from the trauma of a house fire and has the scars to show it. This is a fantastic story of time lapse, family history, and finding your true self under a scar. I ate this book up, and many other girls will too. I would recommend this book for a reader seeking a mysterious, slightly creepy, and adventurous read.
