Add a CommentI've been re-reading Janette Oke's books this summer. I loved them as a girl and am happy to find they still are an entertaining and light read. I'm not sure if I ever read this one as a young person, but it was okay this time around. I found the main character Berta to be really unlikeable and narcissistic for much of the book. Though she does grow and develop as a character, it's a bit of a chore to be rooting for her.
I really enjoyed this book. Janette Oke is really talented. It is good, then in the middle you almost don't think that anything will happen. Just keep reading! The end is my favorite, and totally worth the time of getting to the ending.
