I'm a big Sam Elliott fan. Usually westerns or action movies are what I go for. Take the fact that he has a woman interested in him that us very much younger than he is, I thought he did an epic job in this show as it shows a man struggling with his mortality and a life he thinks has added up to nothing. The most moving scene was when he was in trying out for the movie and he couldn't get through the dialogue because of his relationship with his daughter. He was excellent there. And also when she did her stand up comedy routine and he listened and then walked out. It was thought provoking in that it made me feel how hurt I would have felt . . . and embarrassed. Now that I've given it all away, have fun watching it . . . or not.

Slow. Confusing. Another vanity piece for 70+ year old men who dream of twenty-something women throwing themselves (at least their naked bodies) at old men. There really is no meaning to the story line except that alcoholic, drug abusing narcissists can get cancer, too.

All throughout this movie I kept looking for some meeting, something to tie it together.

At the end I finally realized his speech was the whole point.

Anyone who can sit through this without walking out, turning it off or falling asleep deserve a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Feels like it was made from a short story, the last chapter of a man's life that, we can imagine, sometimes parallels the star (Elliot) in real life- his real wife playing his ex. Kudos to Laura Prepon (That 70's Show) for giving credence to their relationship. I can't imagine too many others her age being as convincing. Small film that gives hope, if not just fantasy, to the silver haired men In the audience ;)

Totally worthless story . Would have rather watched Sam in a western as this is not his type of movie.

Fear and disappointment have the Hero's character stuck until a health issue and young woman help snap him out of it.

Huge Sam Elliot fan and enjoyed his work in this. However the pacing is very slow. His motivation for staying involved with the younger woman was completely lost on me and kind of cheapened his character. Check it out if you're a Sam fan otherwise I don't think it's really worth it .

If you like Sam Elliott and want to see him in a rare lead role, see The Hero.
It's an ok movie with a great actor. I couldn't keep my eye off him (or was that his mustache). So he is riveting, the plot not so much.
