In one of the worst scandals ever faced by the military, in 2003, six women went public with their accounts of sexual assault and harassment at the Air Force Academy. Lynn Hall was one of those survivors. A story of grappling with shame and a culture that blames victims, "Caged Eyes" is also a moving account of Hall's struggle to advocate for herself and recognize her own strength.

Lynn Hall, the author, did a super job writing about her experiences before she signed up for the military, and what she went through in her first year cadet. It was an eye opener for what goes on, especially for women as this book exposes the rape culture and misogyny within the US military.
The book also helped me understand why even as young adults, rape and abuse, many keep to themselves, the shame they live in and how it can happen over and over again by different people and how the victims are the ones often blamed.

A book everyone should read.

Yet another book, among many, as to why military academies should be abolished. They serve no valid purpose, excepting as mental masturbatory clubs for the cognitively stunted. The best officers never go through the academy system, although they may gain the fastest or most conducive rank.
And military academies - - historically speaking to the present - - tend not endow morality or noble purpose - - and the exceptionalism they do promote is contrary to the mandatory groupthink of the services.
