"From the New York Times bestselling author of Flight Patterns comes a stunning new novel about a young single mother who discovers that the nature of friendship is never what it seems.... Recently divorced, Merilee Talbot Dunlap moves with her two children to the Atlanta suburb of Sweet Apple, Georgia. It's not her first time starting over, but her efforts at a new beginning aren't helped by an anonymous local blog that dishes about the scandalous events that caused her marriage to fail. Merilee finds some measure of peace in the cottage she is renting from town matriarch Sugar Prescott. Though stubborn and irascible, Sugar sees something of herself in Merilee--something that allows her to open up about her own colorful past. Sugar's stories give Merilee a different perspective on the town and its wealthy school moms in their tennis whites and shiny SUVs, and even on her new friendship with Heather Blackford. Merilee is charmed by the glamorous young mother's seemingly perfect life and finds herself drawn into Heather's world. In a town like Sweet Apple, where sins and secrets are as likely to be found behind the walls of gated mansions as in the dark woods surrounding Merilee's house, appearance is everything. But just how dangerous that deception can be will shock all three women..."--

This was an okay book. I pretty much had the crime and instigator figured out about half way through, so it was predictable. A little long to read through, but still a good read.

A good beach read! A bit predictable but the relationship between Sugar and Merilee was well thought out and written. The twist at the end was a surprise.

I found it rather dragged along until about 3/4 of the way into the book. The first part did introduce the characters but I guess I found it to be predictable with the high society character.
I did enjoy the history that was brought in with the life of the 90+ year old woman and the interaction with the main character.

Like all Karen White's books, this one was definitely a page turner. I enjoyed every minute of it and was surprised at the ending.

Better than a "chick book", the author came up with some interesting characters, gave them a little development, and devised an interesting plot. Too bad I figured out the identity of the "mean girl" halfway through the book, instead of at the end.

Karen White's novels keep you turning the pages for more. They are hard to put down once you have read the first couple of chapters and have begun to feel like you personally know her main characters. The depth of her characters can make you feel that way! This particular novel took me on an adventure that I never would have expected. Great read!!!

This book was an absolute delight from start to finish. Karen White knows how to weave a story filled with interesting characters, a distinct setting, and a web of secrets and lies. A fantastic story of second chances, secrets, friendship, love, and a reminder that things aren't always what they seem.
