Skull Island

The show reimagines the origin of the mythic Kong in a compelling, original adventure. In the film, a diverse team of explorers is brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific, as beautiful as it is treacherous, unaware that they're crossing into the domain of the mythic Kong.

I love Brie Larson dont know why all these men hate her so much because she's a feminist I guess, any way shes a great actress and drop-dead gorgeous, the rest of the film is for 12-year-olds, Samuel L Jackson doing the same shit now in every movie, is he, Nick Fury ?? to the dude from Pulp Fiction oh wait its the same character in every movie

Utterly ridiculous and unbelievable. Only a 10 year old boy could like it. The film is a reflection on how dumbed down our culture has become.

This fairly excellent movie offers a nice glimpse at an only-mildly-cancerous pre-Captain Marvel version of Brie Larson, though it would probably have been improved by her absence. The nature of her relationship with Kong is a distinctly more feminist skewing of the traditional bond between beast and girl; the manner in which he saves her life at the end is flatly unbelievable, but it happens in the course of an otherwise magnificent climactic battle, in a film whose effects overall are quite excellent. It works beautifully as a Vietnam period piece, quite well as a monster movie, and sort of okay as a King Kong story. Samuel Jackson is excellent as he usually is, even if his Capitol One commercials have rendered him physically incapable of commanding true respect as an actor anymore. And John Goodman's performance is magnificent.

Kids would probably like this version of Kong. Nice to see John Goodman and Samuel L Jackson. They didn't have to work hard for their paychecks!

Kong is bigger, and the cast is full of big names, but everything here is a step down from Peter Jackson's film from a decade ago.

The action scenes are forgettable, the character deaths ridiculous, and the emotion lacking. The sole purpose of this film is, unlike the traditional story, to keep Kong alive so he can take on Godzilla later. Setting aside the problems with attempting a shared cinematic universe, this approach takes everything out of what made King Kong so iconic.

The visuals are (sometimes) great, yes, but great visuals are fortunately the norm these days. So given that, if it succeeds, the Monster Cinematic Universe won't be in swing for some years, you can give this movie a pass.

This film has stunning visuals (and I'm not just talking about Tom Hiddleston) - there are some very lovingly created shots - so it's a bit of a shame that it's SO VERY SILLY. Enjoyable enough, but definitely do not think too hard about anything.
Also, you may wish to wait until the very end as there is a post-credit scene that teases a continuation of the story...

I love all the Kong movies except for the Jeff Bridges version. This particular adaptation does not follow the old premise of capturing the ape and bringing him to New York City, rather its about a large contingent of explorer/scientists who make their way to Skull Island only to discover in short order that they might have made a mistake and spend the rest of the time trying to get off the island. What happens in between is a CGI extravaganza. Giant ugly beasts vs Mr. Kong trying to defend his turf. John C. Reilly has an awesome role that all gets tied together with the opening scene and the ending. Highly recommended for an action packed thrill ride with some light humour.

A rather gory and simple movie (although somewhat entertaining). Tom Hiddleston, as always, is a great actor.

I really enjoyed this movie I thought the CGI was pretty good . They did a good job with the Monsters I thought.
