Three years ago Madison Culver went missing at the age of five while looking for a Christmas tree with her family. Private investigator Naomi Cottle continues the investigation and believes that Madison's disappearance can only be the result of an abduction. Naomi's personal journey from foster child to adulthood parallels her search for Madison, and as her fears and sources of determination come to light, the narrative also dips into Madison's mind, allowing readers to experience her terrifying ordeal at the hands of her captor.

This was a good book - unfortunately there are probably more stories in real life then we would like to admit - where children go missing. Well written and you found yourself feeling like you were in the midst of these vast area. Leaves you hoping only the best for the Child finder so that she an resolve her life mystery.

A marvelous book. The writing paints such vivid pictures.

The writing was good but this book wasn't for me. Too slow and predictable.

It's odd to say that a book with such a dark premise is so beautifully written, but it is. Rene Denfeld has her own traumatic history and has considerable social justice work, which lends a note of compassion to this literary thriller. The plot is terrifying in it's reality, but ultimately it is one of redemption and hope.

Boring. A lollygagging tale of a whole bunch of nothing happening. Very little information on how this woman is going about her search. Literally the majority of what is described is her going into random stores, looking around, asking one or two vague questions, and then going for a hike. Like, that's her crime-solving strategy. And then on the side her pretty much adopted brother is more or less forcing her into a relationship, using her unstable past and the death of their shared adoptive mother as leverage to get her to sleep with him, and then using her sleeping with him to guilt her into a longer relationship. Don't really see the point of this book and not sure how it could be acclaimed by anyone. Finished reading 1/14/18.

Wow. One powerful, devastating book. Beautifully written. Tears shed after reading this one. Vivid characters, like you can see and smell the setting, feel compassion for all the characters, my heart aches. It'll take time to recover after a book like this for me.

I didn't really like the book. The characters were interesting, but I found the story to be lagging and I just couldn't get into it.

This was an amazing book. I couldn't put it down and stayed up way too late to finish it last night! It is a bit disturbing, but so we ll written and engrossing. I love how the author weaved the story together and added the magical aspects to it. Highly recommend.
