This movie was outside my normal viewing "box". A friend recommended it, however, so I thought I would give it a chance. I liked the young man, Baby, played by Ansel Elgort and I have been a fan of Jon Hamm for many years. They could not save this movie for me. Vehicle chases, wrecked cars and violent robberies simply do not do it for me. Do not recommend. Kristi & Abby Tabby

Can I PLEASE give this minus 5 stars...
Utter & complete garbage from beginning to end. However, it does hold the distinction of starting 1000' below absolute bottom, and then continually going downhill from there throughout the entire film, all the way to the end, with the noted caveat, that the descent of quality and rise of absurdity in the last 30 min., moves at a rate 100 times what it had been throughout the movie up to that point, which was mind boggling enough to begin with!
(Yes, I think the preceding sentence is grammatically correct.)
It also breaks a new Follywood record for # of times the main bad guy is killed in a single movie. (Note: almost everyone in this film is "the main bad guy", but they picked one of those for this particular honor.) I lost count around 5,286, so it may be higher.
Every character and every situation is totally absurd and unrealistic. They also broke a new record for gratuitous violence. (Not an easy record to break in Follywood!) Oh, and Paul Williams should write some new songs, and NOT be associated with piece of garbage films like this, even IF it's just a cameo.
Nothing in this film holds up, and of course, it contradicts itself constantly, since it has to to artificially stay afloat. One could go on for hours ripping this low hanging fruit, but in a word:
DEMENTED & completely PHONY. (OK. That's four words. : P

Worst movie I have ever watched. Just truly terrible. After watching the movie I could not even tell you the plot, or why any of what was happening.

Horrible.

You might enjoy this movie if you are twelve. The acting was poor. It tried real hard to be "cool". It was just a dud. The character relationships were unconvincing.

One of the dumbest movies I have ever seen. Watched the whole thing, fast forwarding through some of the more dangerous seizure inducing parts. Tried to be open minded and mine out the good parts. Came up empty. I'm not sure how this movie made it past the "notes on a cocktail napkin" stage. 1 star

The action had my heart pumping and I was quite surprised it kept my interest throughout the entire film. If you want a "car chase" film, this one is for you.

Great soundtrack to go with a high-octane action suspense film. Highly recommended.

Gratuitous violence and impossible evasion tactics. The car driving stunts are entertaining, but the cuts are so short that it indicates that the stunts are short (compare to an old-school Jackie Chan film where they use long shots because the actors know how to stunt fight for minutes in one continuous shot). How many times can you be at the wrong end of a loaded gun & get away? Watch this film to find out & be prepared to listen to some 80's Lionel Ritchie. There's also a love story to round out the Hollywood predictability.

Baby Driver is Edgar Wright's heist movie (like Shaun of the Dead was his Zombie movie, Hot Fuzz his cop movie and Scott Pilgrim his videogame movie) and it's pretty great. It's stylized to a fascinating degree, so much so that the Choreographer gets a big name billing in the opening credits. The integration of the action and soundtrack was meticulous and made me smile constantly. The main downsides to the movie are Wright's inability to write female characters and Kevin Spacey, whose career I don't really feel comfortable supporting any more.

IMDb has many choice quotes already but not these two yet as of today:
Your name's baby? B-a-b-y, baby?
-Yeah.
Well, then, you have us all beat. Every damn song is about you. We could drive back and forth across the states forever and never run out of "baby" songs. We might run out of gas, though.
===
It's Debbie. Debora.
-Oh, like the song. The Beck one? Yeah.
Well, except I'm d-e-b-o-r-a, and I think that's just d-e-b-r-a. I don't know that one.
-Oh, it goes, um... Jenny? The song's about him wanting to get with Jenny
and her sister, too, whose name is Debra.
So it's not even really about me. It's about the sister. My sister's name is Mary.
She has got all the songs. "Mary, Mary, where you goin' to?" "Proud Mary keep on burnin'." "The wind cries Mary." She's got me beat. Again. She's got endless songs. I got one.
-No, you got two.
What's the other one?
-Debora, the song I'm talking about.
Who by?
-Trex.
