Achieving "cool" seems to evade seventeen-year-old Noah and his best friend Walt "Swing'. Not making the baseball team 3 years in a row, not getting the dream girl, was all part of the norms for them both. Well until it wasn't. As these mysterious 1960s love letters turn up in Noah'd hand, he falls into a world of art, love, and jazz. With Walt's continuous support and optimism, things "seem" to be up for the better for them both...

I absolutely loved this book. Definitely one of my favorites. My favorite pieces from this book were "Men in Blue" and "I, Too?". I don't read poetry much, but Kwame Alexander is my exception. I was in tears when I finished. This book was so moving and so relevant to times right now (July 2020). Please Please read this book it is definitely worth your time.

This one just did not gel. There were some really good parts (like the art) and some filler and than an ending out of left field. Definitely not my favorite in the Kwame Alexander body of work.

In this powerful and moving novel-in-verse from Kwame Alexander, Noah is trying to find a way to let his best friend know that he likes her as more than a friend while another friend tries to give him advice. But then something happens to change everything....
