Add a CommentWell done documentary not afraid to show the people riding her coattails. It's sad she didn't have someone with words of wisdom to help her. I was totally clueless as to what her life was really like.
In 2012 Whitney Houston died at the age of 48.
This 2-hour celebrity documentary offers the viewer a close-up look at Whitney's life and career.
Singer/actress, Whitney Houston (1963-2012) was the most awarded female artist of all time. She is regarded as being one of the greatest artists of the latter 20th century. Her crossover appeal on the popular music charts (as well as her prominence on MTV) influenced several African-American female performers of subsequent generations.
Through stills, archival footage, and interviews - This 2-hour bio-documentary takes an in-depth look at the turbulent life and glowing career of Whitney Houston.
Well done documentary. It displays the incredible talent of Whitney Houston while not being afraid of discussing the tragedies within her life.
Great movie which shows her sad life...Fantastic singer
Very well done documentary. Very courageous of the Houston family.
Whitney Houston is one of the singer/performers whose recorded music could never capture/do justice to Whitney performing. This documentary is worth a look just to hear the performances included.
An unfortunate life. She had no real family support. She was young and insecure. She needed help dealing with career, fame and fortune. It was all just about the money. She was unhappy deep down.
A great documentary but so sad. Whitney may have been doomed a long time before her final demise. Such a great voice and such a musical legacy and yet the bottom, the foundations, were weak and unstable. Her husband and her relationship to him was the final long but inevitable nail in the coffin.
I liked this DVD. It is 120 minutes long. It is comprehensive and informative. It shows how drug addictions can destroy your life. It is sad her life with so much potential was thrown away by Whitney because she would not give up her cocaine. Whitney Houston is a musical icon, known for such hit songs as "How Will I Know," "I Will Always Love You" and "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)." Her debut album, "Whitney Houston," set industry records as the best-selling debut album for a female singer. The documentary follows her life and career, culminating in her untimely death at the age of 48. Her friends and family describe their relationship with the singer and her private struggles.
Sad story of abuse and exploitation. Whitney left with different families growing up while mother Cissy Houston was working, allegedly cousin Dee Dee Warwick sexually molested her when Whitney was a young child; she was harassed as a child for being light-skinned, later Rev. Al Sharpton led "Boycott 'Whitey' Houston campaign"; film suggested that she may have become involved with Bobby Brown in part to counter criticism that she was "too white"; details Brown's abuse; her drug addiction is mocked on Saturday Night Live by Maya Rudolph, etc.; she is allegedly an "ATM" for family members, resulting in her not having enough money to complete needed rehab.
