Five people where sent to the emergency room at Pincher Creek hospital on the weekend complaining of respiratory problems, a slight increase over the number of such visits normally seen. The area was buried Sunday under a thick cloud of smoke, which wafted as far west as Lethbridge. The first to feel the ill effects from heavy smoke are those with asthma, chronic bronchitis and emphysema, said Dr. David Swann, acting chief medical officer of health for the Chinook Health Region.
