Cattle Feeders Stand by Identification Regulations

Cattle Feeders Stand by Identification Regulations

Rate this:
American headlines that hundreds of Canadian imported cattle are circumventing animal identification regulations is sheer nonsense, say two cattle feedlot industry leaders. Rick Paskal of Picture Butte, president of the new Canadian Cattle Feeders Association, said the rumors are coming from the Washington Cattle Producers Association which he feels is linked to R-CALF United Stockgrowers of America, the major lobby to shut off Canadian cattle and beef shipments to the U.S. Herb Groenenboom of Coalhurst, president of the Alberta Cattle Feeders Association, said strict cattle identification regulations imposed by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and ratified by the United States Department of Agriculture confirm the identification of Canadian cattle heading south.
