Not up to Nesbo's usual level, plot-wise. The literary devices are overused. People reading crime fiction don't have much patience for them. Too many peripheral characters that do not add to the narrative, and for which there is no resolution. I get the impression Nesbo is tired of his characters. And, there is a lot of sentimental schmalz in the final chapters. That is another thing people reading crime fiction find tedious.
