I watched this movie to the bitter end; an accomplishment to say the least. I don't like giving such a low score - but I couldn't rate it any higher. If this movie had been based on a true story, it might have had some merit. I found it quite pointless and not even convincing. After floundering about in the ocean, the lone character's shirt is barely wet. One scene shows the ocean slightly choppy whereas, a moment later, the waves are twice as high or non-existent. In the middle of the night, the life raft is lit up as if there were a couple of 100 watt bulbs overhead. The only saving grace was Robert Redford; a man whose acting skills have not deteriorated with age. If you are interested in a REAL struggle for survival, read "Alone: Orphaned on the Ocean", "Ten Degrees of Reckoning", or "Island of the Lost: Shipwrecked at the Edge of the World".
