I liked the way that this book started, because I read it without reading the first one. I found that it was very easy to jump right onto the plot without too much major confusion. However, the amount of characters was a bit harder to grasp at as all the names are very unique. I wonder how the author came by all the fascinating and somewhat scary creatures in the book. Maybe research? Or did she make them all up? That would be very interesting indeed. The plot was easy to follow throughout, with the classical twists and turns that leave readers up to their imaginations. The ending just didn't hit it off with me too well though. ( I actually didn't think of that possibility! ) 4/5 stars. - @Siri of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library After the six mermaids were reunited, they were informed with the shocking truth that they are the descendants of powerful mages and have the capabilities to find the talismans in order to defeat the evil that destroyed Atlantis long ago. Told mostly from the point of view of Serafina and Neela, the two have a hunch about the whereabouts of their talismans and goes out to find them. Serafina travels to an ancient shipwreck and is heartbroken upon discovering a traitor in her midst while Neela goes against terrifying dragons. I thoroughly enjoyed this sequel and I feel like it lived up to its previous installment. The characters were developed further in this novel and the relationship between the protagonist and her love interest also deepened which was interesting to read about. There were intense moments and unpredictable twists which made reading this book a pleasure. Overall, it was a great read that I would definitely recommend.
