Where Am I Now?

True Stories of Girlhood and Accidental Fame

This collection of essays by writer and former child actor Mara Wilson (best known for “Matilda” and “Mrs. Doubtfire”) is funny, touching, and beautifully written, with through-lines touching on her child-star past, her life-long struggles with anxiety and mental health issues, and her addiction to storytelling of all kinds. I can struggle with celebrity memoirs, which often seem to cover the same topics in the same ways, but this book takes some delightful, unexpected turns that keep it moving along. Highly recommended!
