James Patterson and Maxine Paetro's Women's Murder Club books are always great reads. THE 17TH SUSPECT is no exception. There are four story lines in this one: two crimes; one relationship crisis; and one health issue. The two crime story lines are unique and interesting all by themselves. That said, this book isn't quite up to the very high standard of most of the previous ones. Usually the members of the Women's Murder Club are all active in a book, problem solve together, and sometimes even collaborate to solve crimes. In this book, it's all about Boxer and Yuki, and the crimes they are working on have no overlap. Meanwhile Claire makes only a couple cameo appearances and Cindy is almost entirely missing from the book. The ending also left me wondering if this might be an end to the series or foretelling a hiatus. I won't spoil it by a 'reveal,' but you may see wonder too. Enjoy!
