I loved the first half of this book and was only sorry when, halfway through, it turned to the supernatural. It is Stephen King, after all, but I badly wanted a real-life resolution. The second half is classic Stephen King, so fans should not be disappointed. I thought the story would have been stronger had he not resurrected characters and stories from his Bill Hodges Trilogy, which I felt he had neatly ended. Indeed, anyone who has not read that trilogy might have a little difficulty in tracking everything in the second half. I also kind of wish King would give his characters more modern names (Jack, Bill and such appear a lot in King's work - good names but overused). All that said, this is still probably the most compelling King book in a while and is very difficult to put down.
