Ponyo is a beautiful anime film made by Studio Ghibli. It follows the story of a young fish called Ponyo, her journey into the human world, and the slight chaos she causes when she is rescued from a glass jar by a young boy named Sasuke. I love this film because the way it depicts love is in a very unconventional way. I feel like Ponky truly understands what love is for me, as an asexual and aromantic individual. As shown in this film, love can be anything from supporting who you care about, protecting them, accepting them for who they are, but can also be things as simple as sharing a delicious dinner. It’s just incredibly tender and sweet, and though it may not be as strong as other Ghibli films, it made me feel alive in a way few other films can.
