The Sexual Paradox

Extreme Men, Gifted Women and the Real Gender Gap
Dec 20, 2011
I wanted to give this book a chance, but the massive class privilege and white privilege of this excerpt in BiblioCommons has put me off. How can the author claim that her science will be unbiased (because some science is still rife with bias) when she writes things like the following: "In fact, more progress had been made in my generation than in the previous 150 years, during which American women struggled-but failed-to have the same constitutional rights as had been granted to former slaves." Gee, I guess black women, who had been slaves, aren't actually women? So the author believes that she is concerned with science and objectivity, yet doesn't even notice that her own definition of women has already excluded a lot of women? How very objective!
