Ordinarily, the first thing I look for in a film is the story, but that doesn't apply here. Like Inception and Strange Days, it's about technology that makes it possible to see and manage dreams, a murder -- and the rest is up for debate. But rather than trying too hard to understand it, let it wash over you and make its own kind of sense. Because of violence and brief sexual imagery, this is not a film for children, though they might actually be the best audience for Paprika's bombardment of images. I have attached a video about writer/director Satoshi Kon's films, which will give you an idea if it is for you.
