Reese Witherspoon was exceptional in this role; she not made you only believe her, she actually became Dani in her star performance. The remaining of her films were more in the comedy genre or where Reese wasn't able to become the character she portrayed.
The entire cast and script are outstanding and it's a shame this movie wasn't promoted.Reese Witherspoon was exceptional in this role; she not made you only believe her, she actually became Dani in her star performance. Wasn't impressed; kept hoping Coco would stop being such a doormat and letting men walk all over her. The story was uninspiring and frustrating. With this novel, Steel was much more graphic with sexual encounters and using the F word - it reads as though a ghost writer penned this one. Definitely not the Danielle Steel style of writing.Wasn't impressed; kept hoping Coco would stop being such a doormat and letting men walk all over her. The story was uninspiring and frustrating. This novel was a disappointment and am wondering if there was a ghost writer because it didn't follow the usual writing of Connelly. The story seemed to drag in many places and Connelly's are normally page-turners. Also, the political preferences and digs did not add anything of substance to the storyline. Am hoping his next novel will run more true to form. This novel was a disappointment and am wondering if there was a ghost writer because it didn't follow the usual writing of Connelly. Grisham has succeeded in giving us another of his great novels. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of A Time for Mercy, nothing about it was disappointing. Grisham's novels always grab you from the very first sentence and keep you intrigued throughout the entire story. One of the main reasons his writing style is so popular is because he gets right to the point and doesn't waste paragraphs or pages with needless information such as describing what someone looks like or is wearing, or constantly repeating information. Brief and to the point, that's the key!Grisham has succeeded in giving us another of his great novels. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of A Time for Mercy, nothing about it was disappointing. I kept hoping Russ would stand up to his toxic manipulative and controlling wife but he continued to allow Vivian to use him as a doormat.
London ended up being the star of the novel and Sparks could have written a follow up with her as the main character to show how her life played out.I kept hoping Russ would stand up to his toxic manipulative and controlling wife but he continued to allow Vivian to use him as a doormat.

I tried to get into the story but just wasn't the style of writing I prefer, it was too choppy in many places and wasn't relaxing reading.

I agree with 7duffy - the ending was way too Hollywood. After watching Don Birnam struggling to find his next drink throughout the weekend, the ending was a huge letdown. Am amazed it won Best Picture and Best Actor awards.

This is the first Baldacci I've read and will read some of his writings written prior to 2015 or 2016 to see if he used any of those novels as a platform to make a stand about his political preferences. I enjoyed the plot and the main character Atlee Pine; and also her secretary side-kick Carol Blum, The story line and the author's method of writing held my interest and curiosity. However, it would best serve the diversity and multitude of readers to leave his personal beliefs off the pages. This is the first Baldacci I've read and will read some of his writings written prior to 2015 or 2016 to see if he used any of those novels as a platform to make a stand about his political preferences. As one of my favorite authors, I enjoyed reading Run Away. It held my interest throughout. He does an excellent job of bringing his characters to life. His writing style keeps the reader glued.
The reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the disappointing ending; it presented as though Corben wasn't quite how to end the story. As one of my favorite authors, I enjoyed reading Run Away. Began reading Steel's novels in the 70s. Gave up and went to other authors. Recently decided to read The Mistress and it is similar to many of her other novels:
Main female character is blonde
Main female character lives in either San Francisco, Paris or New York
Main female character is very wealthy; inherits a fortune; is with a wealthy man or eventually ends up with a wealthy man; or a man who will be wealthy.
Her novels are light reading and thankfully not violent.Began reading Steel's novels in the 70s. Gave up and went to other authors. Recently decided to read The Mistress and it is similar to many of her other novels:

Exceptional writing by Douglas Kennedy. He isn't a 'filler' writer, meaning he doesn't add useless information. His writing grabs you from the first sentence and keeps you there throughout the entire novel. The intense jealousy of his wife's affair and throughout his travels across the country makes this novel a true page turner.Exceptional writing by Douglas Kennedy. This novel should be made into a movie! Could you imagine dying as an adult only to wake up back in your late teens or early twenties and have the chance to relive you life. . .knowing and feeling everything you did as an adult 20+ years older? And then, when you'd think that amazing. . . .as more years pass, you find yourself dying again and returning back to the same time frame as before to do it all over again . .. and again, and again? What a vivid imagination the author had to write this book that will not only take you on his adventures, but leave you imagining what you would do if you had the same opportunities. This novel should be made into a movie! Exceptional novel because not only does it delve into the legal world but also into personal triumphs and losses; how each member of the family comes to terms with their own beliefs and emotional restorations.
